One morning, I thought of surprising my best friend by going over her place. Unfortunately I got some work and things didn’t go as planned. If not the surprise, I thought I would make a phone call in the night and I got back to my work. Two hours later she calls up, and we had a long talk over the phone. Later on I was shocked when I realized that I had been thinking about her all the day and out of nowhere she just called me up. This was no accident, the universe works in an unbelievable manner. It manifests what you think. Isn't that amazing? It sounds unreal but I'm saying this with so much surety because I have experienced it. Not only this, there are many other experiences that made me believe this fact. And I'm about to tell you how the law works. I am reading the book named, The Magic (Secret). It says the universe works on one basic law, the law of attraction.
Consider yourself a magnet, if you think positive, you attract positive. If you focus on the negatives, you eventually end up having a negative state of mind. But in our daily lives it seems difficult to have a positive mind in every situation. Remember the emotions or feelings when you were stuck in traffic or you had a fight with your loved ones or your boss made you work extra shifts. All of these events have a great impact on our state of mind. We start to complain, we get angry, we feel sad about it and end up having nothing more but negativity. And remember the law of attraction? Negative attracts more negative. Many such events take place in our lives and unintentionally we have been attracting negative and living the consequences of it.
Now that you have understood this, how do you stay positive? Is it possible for us to change the habits of complaining or grinning that we have been inculcating in so many years? The answer is yes it is possible.
1) If you win the morning, you win the day. Morning, when started with a positive attitude, can make a huge difference in the productivity of the day. Start with affirmations. When I wake up in the morning, the first thing that I do is, I stand in front of the mirror, look into my eyes and say to myself.
TODAY IS GOING TO BE THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE.
I WILL WORK MORE THAN I DID YESTERDAY.
I AM A CHAMPION. I BELIEVE I CAN ACHIEVE MY GOALS.
MY DREAMS WILL COME TRUE. I WILL LIVE THE LIFE OF MY DREAMS.
NOBODY CAN STOP ME.
With this practice, I promise you will see better results. You will notice the changes in your mood and it will fuel you with all the energy you need for the day.
2) See the good in everything. Once you start focusing on the brighter side of everything, you will observe that you have stopped complaining. When you come across any situation, where you get irritated or you are about to complain, stop yourself and list out 3 benefits of the situation taking place. For example, if your professor takes an extra lecture, you've got two options, get irritated, complain, learn nothing and wait for the time to pass or attend it cheerfully & learn something out of it. Either ways you have to attend the lecture, so why not attend it with the intention of learning something out of it.
3) Prioritize your day. Before going to bed, plan the next day and write it down & stick to it with discipline. Start your day with the things you love to do and carry on the good mood in every task you do. Planning things will help you be organised, will avoid you from unnecessary distractions and it will give you clarity about your goals for the day.
4) How amazing it feels when you are struggling with something and you get a little help from someone. It makes your day, right? Imagine you doing that for someone, how amazing it would feel when you are the reason behind someone’s smile. I never miss a chance to help someone. Helping someone is the most selfish deed you could do for yourself. Yes, it is true. Spreading smiles will give you a satisfaction, sense of pride and it will return to you in mysterious ways.
5) Write down your weekly goals, monthly goals and yearly goals. Don't just write, after the self-affirmations mentioned in the first point, read these goals that will drive you to work on them. And if you are working I can assure you it has to manifest.
A few months earlier while I was cleaning up my cupboard, I found my book of goals which I maintained earlier in my life. Goals written in the book were 6-7 months old & I was shocked to see that the goals that I had written had been achieved. The tasks that seemed impossible, had been my normal routine. I couldn't believe I was living it without even realizing it. It felt magical that I was improving without even knowing it. I started this practice of writing my goals again and every week I try to achieve them. Some of the work gets done and some will take time but one thing that I can guarantee you is that I know I am changing. This habit gets the best out of me. It will do you good too.
