'Smile'...It's Free

I was on my scooter, waiting for the red light to turn green. My mind was arguing on some topic where some part of me supported the argument and the other part countered it. I was into deep thinking. There were a father and his daughter too, waiting for the signal to turn green. The girl might have been around 7-8 years of age. When my eyes met hers she gave me a sweet smile, and suddenly my thinking went on the stop. Her cute little face with that smile got my attention, I smiled back. The signal turned green, they went on their route, I went on mine. But something that stayed on my face was that smile I gave her. The smile carried on my face the whole day. That one little gesture by the girl made my day and it was an amazing thing to experience. We come across so many people in our day, most of them strangers, fighting fights we never will know about. The least we can do is give them a smile. Your one small gesture can make a lot of difference. And trust me it feels great. Smiling...

Choose Your Family Wisely.

What is this guy talking about? Who gets to choose a family?Well, I understand but I am talking about the family that we get to choose, our friends.
I have known that your friends have a great impact on us, our life, our behavior, our mentality and our thinking process and thus it is really very important to choose them wisely. Our future depends on the type of friends we have.
Jay Shetty, a modern monk explains friendship in a very convincing manner. He preaches, if we consider ourselves a tree then the leaves, branches and roots are the types of friends we have. Some friends are like the leaves, they are present until everything is pleasant, until they are having fun with you but when the winds blow and bad weather hits, they get blown away. These are temporary people and like the leaves on a tree, they will leave too.

Some friends are like branches, they are close to us, they assure their presence to us but their support lives only until they can carry the weight of your friendship. These branches are there for some time, they provide us with a purpose but they don't last for very long either.
And then we have these few friends who are like the roots of the tree. These are the few people that will change your life. They are the real support system you need, they refuel and re-energise you with the truth and help you grow as a person. They won't disappear when we have problems and wish the best for us.The roots decide the strength of the tree; it is the roots that give life to the tree.
Stay away from the friends that pull you down, who pretend to be your friends but are different on the inside. We are surrounded by people who are two-faced, we might have known friends who want us to look good to be with them, to take cool photos, people who are materialistic, who judge you on the basis of how you dress or which phone you use. Distance yourself from these people. Quality over Quantity.
Find someone that would love your company, who would want to know you, understand you, motivate you, learn from you as well as teach you. Find someone who will walk the path with you on the journey of discovering yourself.
We all need a true friend but are too stubborn to become one.
We look into imperfections of everyone but we need to ask ourselves,
How perfect are we?
Are we willing to be the friend everyone needs?

Let us change ourselves first. When every one of us will change, slowly and steadily the world will become a better place to live in!
