What does Fear mean? Does it really exist or is it just a barrier that our mind has created to stop us from exploring ourselves? It is a human tendency to be on the safer side. Our mind is designed to make us choose the easy path. When given option there are a few people that might choose a path that is new to them. This happens because we get trapped in “WHAT IF?” But what if we face our fear? What if we face it only for once and understand it never existed.
I like relating fear with shadows. If there is a shadow, there must be light on the other end, the same way if there are fears we have success on the other end. Like shadows, fears are just projections, stopping us from taking efforts.I have understood fear as an indication. An indication of something that is going to change me. An indication of something that will be worth fighting for.
Fear indicates the satisfaction and the pride that lies on the other side!
So don't you feel it is worth giving a try?
I would like to share an experience of how I overcame the most difficult task on Earth i.e. DANCING. Five months earlier all my friends have known that me and dance stand on two different poles of the earth! I always loved watching people dance, but I could never do a step. My hands won't move, my legs never co-ordinated. More than that, I had a mental blockage that would never let me try. I had this desire to learn dancing but I always feared about "THEM".
What will "THEY" think?
What if "THEY" would laugh at me? And I assumed that I will never be able to dance. In parties, or night outs or even festivals, I would usually grab a chair and watch people having the most amazing time and feel bad for myself!
One fine day, I said to myself," No more running from it.I won’t miss the next opportunity to dance." I was lucky that my college came up with an industrial visit.
I can never forget that night, it was dark and we had the flashlights of our phones turned on and we had good loud music playing in our room. My friends started dancing on the beats, as it was dark I realized no-one was watching me so I tried moving myself and this very surprising event happened I started dancing, yes I faced it! I couldn't believe myself but yes, I was dancing. I didn't care, who was watching, what anyone was thinking. I was busy enjoying the fact that I was dancing. It was fun, I can never forget that day of my life. And now I don't fear it anymore!
When I talk about fear, I’m not relating with the typical cockroach phobia or height phobia that you might have. I’m talking about the things that you connect with, that you really want to try but your imaginary thoughts stop you from taking action.
You might want to start a new business, but fear about failure
You might want to learn flips but fear getting injured.
The list of examples are never ending…
So, what can we do to overcome it ?
Right now, at this moment what are the things you can't do?Things you want to do, but can't.
What is stopping you from doing them?
Trust me, you are just one step away from getting over it, and it will feel good, it will make you happy. At least give in a try, just start my taking small steps towards it.The satisfaction of giving it a try is worth it.Here is something that I would suggest you do.
List out everything you have in your mind, that you wanted to do but couldn't and GO FOR IT. One step followed by another…
These are the little moments of happiness that you will cherish for the rest of your life.
Amazing achievement broda!!!...Nice piece of words 😊
